Notes |
- John "disappeared" from Ebbw Vale, supposedly after being rejected by a girl he was in love with. Ivor Rogers has a certificate kept in the Rogers Family Bible which is for "EBBW VALE SCIENCE and ART CLASSES Presented to: JOHN URIAH ROGERS prize for: SHORTHAND Presented by: THE EBBW VALE STEEL, IRON and COAL COMPANY SESSION 1904 - 1905 John must obviously have left Ebbw Vale after this. Ivor Rogers says he recollects that John went first to America and then to Australia. Phyllis Marsh (nee Morgan) remembers her mother, Mary Morgan (nee Rogers), John's Sister, talking about receiving a letter from Australia from John saying he was well. No more letters were received. John may have been a missionary but this is a family story.
